RE: http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r28690171-STB-Samsung-STB-with-cable-card- As an possible alternative to a TiVo, it looks like Samsung may be finally adding a DVR capability to its Smart Media Player now: Samsung prototype DVR supports ZigBee, MoCA 2.0 By Steve Donohue, The Donohue Report - February 9, 2015 http://donohuereport.com/connected-home/samsung-super-dvr-prototype-supports-home-automation/ quote:Samsung has built a prototype super DVR containing six tuners and a ZigBee home automation module manufactured buy Texas Instruments subsidiary Chipcon, according to an FCC test report obtained by The Donohue Report. The video and home automation gateway is one of the first set-tops to support the MoCA 2.0 home networking standard. Samsung model No. SMT-H3462 is designed to deliver content wirelessly to thin-client set-tops and connected TV devices. The DVR contains a 1-terabyte hard disk drive capable of recording up to 400 hours of standard-definition programming or 90 hours of high-definition content. According to a user manual attached to the report, the set-top can record six programs simultaneously. It also enables “time-shift recording,” allowing viewers to pause two live programs for up to 90 minutes. ... &nbsp Also on the Zatz Not Funny! blog site: Samsung’s New DVRs By Dave Zatz, Zatz Not Funny!- February 10, 2015 http://zatznotfunny.com/2015-02/samsungs-new-dvrs/ quote:... Given its specs, including Zigbee and MoCA 2.0, this set-top is presumably destined for a MSO partner like Time Warner Cable. However, possibly more interesting is the box turned up by tipster Alex D on Flickr. Pictured above, the Samsung “Smart Cable DVR” looks to be a retail product and the successor or up-sell to the Smart Media Player introduced in 2013. Whereas the Player tuned a single cable channel, this newer product is a 4-tuner DVR. Further, as an app platform, Samsung touts universal search capabilities, à la TiVo, and by leveraging their broader consumer electronics product line, the Smart DVR also optionally integrates Samsung’s wireless audio system. &nbsp EDIT: Found the FCC OET Exhibits page for it: https://apps.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/reports/ViewExhibitReport.cfm?mode=Exhibits&RequestTimeout=500&calledFromFrame=N&application_id=266265&fcc_id=A3LSMTH3462
