In my living room I have a single HDTV and two sound systems. One is a surround decoding soundbar for most uses, and the other is an older JVC mid tier surround amp for when we want more punch. Usually I run my sources (Comcast X1 DVR, Xbox 360, Bluray player, Chromecast, Wii) direct to the TV via HDMI (component for the Wii) and then split the digital coax out from the tv to the two sound systems. This works great for everything but the X1 DVR, which refuses to output a surround signal.
I did some research and decided that my only solution would be to hook the X1 to the TV via component and stereo cables, and from the X1 to the surround amp via optical digital. I needed a specific X1 DVR model for this, the PX012ANx (according to http://www.dslreports.com/faq/comcasttv/Equipment). I chatted with chat support who said they were sending me one but a PX013ANx arrived instead. I spoke to phone support who insisted my local Xfinity store had them in stock, but they didn't. That local store sent me home with a PX001ANx and said they would have the local warehouse find one and get back to me the next morning. They didn't, of course.
I agreed to try the PX001ANX until a PX012ANx could be located. I hooked it up and surprise, surprise.... blue light?!? I'm having good luck with it so far. Is it possible that Pace recalled the PX001ANx and refurbished them?
