In Feb 2013 Comcast made me angry to the point I decided to put my money where my mouth was. I purchased a Tivo DVR to replace the Comcast DVR I had been renting. I also purchased a cable modem instead of continuing to rent one from them, and I will include that information here as well. I've chosen to post here instead of in the HSI forum because the money I saved is greater on the cable TV side and this was always more about deciding to move to Tivo anyway. I only wish I had another viable option for TV and Internet service in my area because I'd have left Comcast completely. Here are the $ results of my actions, sort of written in the form of a letter to Comcast:

So, if I compare what I saved by purchasing the Tivo in Feb 2013 instead of renting the DVR from Comcast I haven't broken even yet - I'm $207.48 in the hole.
BUT, if I include what I saved by also purchasing a cable modem instead of renting one from Comcast I'll break even soon - I'm only $77.47 in the hole.
If you include the fact that Comcast ticked me off so I dropped to a lower TV bracket as well I've not only broken even, but I've come out $463 ahead.
AND if you include the fact I also dropped their faster Internet speed because they made me angry I've come out $763 ahead.
SO if I only count buying the Tivo vs renting the Comcast DVR I'll break even in 13 more months. If I include what I've saved by buying the Tivo and my own cable modem vs renting both from Comcast I'll break even in 4 more months.
Thanks Comcast. You've saved me $763 since Feb 2013 by being the crappy company you are. You've saved me money by not treating me fairly and due to your lousy customer service. Don't forget, this is $763 you could have pocketed from me. I only wish that even just 10% of your some 20 million customers would follow suit. Can you imagine what it would do to your bottom line if 50% of your customers followed my example?! Don't forget - I didn't do this to save myself money. I made this decision because you angered me so I chose to line the pockets of other companies instead of yours, at least as best I felt I could.
