Hello All,
I have come to the reality that I no longer really need Dish and already pay a fortune for a triple play package with Xfinity so I have great high speed internet and a phone line for my alarm to backup to.
I really want to move everything over to Xfinity and drop dish but I have a couple of issues that has kept me from doing this for awhile now. Those that Have an X1-X2 and either know or have had Dish can REALLY help me answering a few questions.
CURRENT SETUP: I have multiple TV's, DVR, etc. but to really make these questions as easy as possible lets just pretend:
- I am connecting ONE TV to my Current Dishnetwork DVR in 1080 Via HDMI.
-I also have a Sling Player and use Dishanywhere.com ALOT on my laptop in the house and on phones/tablets.
WHAT I WANT TO DO WITH THE X1-X2:
-Duplicate the same exact experience I have with my Current setup described above.
ISSUES I SEE MOVING TO XFINITY AND DROPPING DISH:
My biggest issues revolve around my current dishnet/sling player/dishanywhere.com experience (which is PERFECT and I LOVE IT) and finding an exact replacement via any method with Xfinity X1-X2.
I was told by Xfinity reps that I can do the same with Streampix. Since I already have Xfinity internet, phone & video (I do not use video and have no boxes though) I setup the streampix and have been thoroughly disappointed in this as a solution for the following reasons (not to mention it is clunkier than even dishanywhere but I can live with that part.)
1. Not near as many channels and definitely not like dish where I can stream anything.
2. BIG ISSUE The video quality even on high is horrible compared to dishanywhere. I cannot use it.
3. BIG ISSUE Since there is no native app for streampix when viewing on my Mac or phone, even on fullscreen, there is always black bars around the screen and it is not really full screen.
QUESTIONS:
All the above being said:
1. First, am I doing something wrong/not educated in Xfinity X1? I am open to any input.
2. Can I use a Slingbox solution (setup properly) to alleviate my issues? I think this may be the best route but I have another question for those that have input on this question.
2A: If I do this, how can I make this solution work like the Dishanywhere/sling setup that I have right now where I can watch one channel on my TV and another on the Sling? I would assume I could rent a dedicated receiver to connect to the X1 and instead of this connecting to a TV it would be for the sling player only??
