What exactly are " digital outlet fees"?
Those digital outlets in my house are something I paid for and belong to me. I as the customer and responsible for the internal wiring.
Comcast before the encryption used to connect cable in your house and it did not matter if you had 1 or 100 TVs. They claimed the digital boxes were requires due to the government forcing them to convert all signal to digital which TV were unable to handle without their box( not true)
So where did this digital outlet fee come from and if you think about it very hard, what exactly are you paying for? Is this like paying your power company a $10 fee for every power outlet you have in additional to the power that you use?
What if you have a splitter on the same outlet or only use your Tivo when you want to record something on the same outlet by first unplugging your cablebox then plugging in your Tivo to record it.
I think this outlet fee is absolutely nonsense and something made up in order to charge you the same thing if you lease their equipment or own your own. Being a monopoly or a quasi-monopoly allows them to play these games. I guess the FCC is not going to do anything about it or does not understand what they are doing.
What do you guys think of the so called " digital outlet fee" that started coming out when people started to show interest in owning their own equipment to escape the comcast lease?
