Per the Comcast Equipment Policy: https://www.xfinity.com/equipmentpolicy
If your plan includes the cost of a cable box and you don't take it, and instead use a CableCARD, you get a credit. Even the "full" policy states that, without restriction.
I live in a condo with a bulk HOA contract where we get Digital Preferred and 2 HD Boxes included with our monthly package. I, however, didn't take any boxes and instead took 2 CableCARDs. Comcast claims that the fee I am already paying for the 2 HD Boxes cannot be applied to the two CableCARDs and I'll be charged for them (First is always included, second would be full price). The FCC rule "§ 76.1205 CableCARD support" states that if a package includes equipment, a CableCARD can be used instead and a credit applied to the customer.
When I asked for clarification, the answer was "Our policy states that the amount of the discount will be determined by Comcast in its sole discretion. In your case, Comcast has determined that customers who pay through their Homeowners Association are not eligible to receive the $2.50 credit."
Anyone else have any experience with this?
