I'm thinking about upgrading to X1. I'm happy with the current setup but Comcast is sending me letters asking me to upgrade.
I know the X1 boxes have built in cable modems. How does it work with the internet? For example, if the X1 box is streaming Netflix at 4k and uses 25Mbps and I have a 100Mbps plan, do I have 75Mbps left to use on the internet? Who get's priority? If need to something with a computer and I need all 100Mbps, how do I force X1 to downgrade to something lower like 720p or 480p? How do I manage the QoS? How does X1 affect ping from the internet modem?
Does the X1 box and the Internet modem use the same IP or are they different? Is it recommended the X1 box have a direct line from the outside line to it like the tech with internet? Will I have a problem if I put it on a TV with plenty of splitters where the current setup works fine?
