Looks like Comcast is releasing yet another new box/service!
Comcast to Launch New Wireless TV Platform

http://www.farcecable.com/comcast_ears.htmlquote:Last week, Comcast launched their new Xfinity "Flex" service, which provides Xfinity Internet-only customers the ability to use their television and X1 voice control remotes to manage all of the connected devices in their home. However, Comcast realizes that not all homes within their footprint have cable access, either because they don't have any cable infrastructure on their street, or that the home is too far off the main road.
In order to finally serve those remaining homes, the engineers at Comcast Labs have now developed a wireless (cable-less) solution - the Xfinity Enhanced Airborne Reception System (EARS) which, when connected to most HDTVs, will permit them to receive High Definition TV programing.
"Xfinity EARS will now allow us to serve what was, until now, a neglected segment of homes within our market areas," said Mitchell Smith, Vice President, Wireless Services for Comcast Cable. "For a rental fee of only seven dollars a month, the EARS box can now provide these customers an affordable way to watch hundreds of free shows, movies and sports, many from our own NBC Universal broadcast network."
Note that not all networks/channels will be available in each market, and will also vary by location within a given area.
Xfinity EARS Self-Install Kits (SIKs) are expected to be ready for shipment sometime later this month or may be picked up at your local Comcast service center or Xfinity Store .
