I'm going to take a different approach to getting rid of the Comcast modem and getting rid of the Xfinity gateway. I discovered my Samsung Smart TV has an Xfinity App that can be downloaded directly to the TV and can stream live TV and pull DVR recordings from their "cloud" DVR service. My other two TVs are dumb TVs that require a cable or satellite box (or other source like a Blu-ray player, game console, or an antenna) to pull content. What device can I purchase to pull the Xfinity app to those dumb TVs (I heard Roku is compatible but not all Rokus are equal) and if I get all streaming devices can I lose the Comcast cable TV boxes AND their gateway and go to my own modem/router.
Anyone have experience with this setup.
