[Cable Card] Guide to a successful CableCARD activation

Fellow Xfinity users- I wanted to take the time to give some ideas on what to expect followed by some pointers if you plan to activate a CableCARD on any of the new plans Xfinity has to offer. About two years ago i moved out of Xfinity territory, and my HDHR PRIME went into the drawer. Recently i moved back, and initially signed up for internet-only service. A few months passed and i broke out the old PRIME and thought i should try to fire this thing up, and get basic service- just for locals. I knew that when i had initially set up service with a cablecard, there was a particular department specific to CableCARD support. Fortunately they still exist! 1-877-405-2298 7 days a week, 8-5 (i believe) mountain standard time. Be sure to call during there business hours. You will only get the option to be forwarded to the cablecard department if they are open, and you explain to the system that you are having technical difficulties with cable tv. Outside of these variables, you will be forwarded to a ordinary rep, which most of, do not even know that the department exists. The reps will clearly state that is the department you have reached. Opt for the survey and give these guys a perfect review! We need them to stick around! How i managed to lock in a decent deal was by signing up for Performance+Basic, and opted to stream ONLY. I processed the order online, in my account. The following day i called the cablecard department and requested a self-install kit.. it arrived within two days. The online activation process failed, so i called into the same department. The new plans cause some billing coding issues on the account and activation has to be processed manually, i assume for the time being. Moral of this story, allow the cablecard department be the ONLY people that touch anything! I say that BOLDLY! The reps are EXTREMELY helpful. Its worth having a cablecard on your account just so these guys can help you out with any issues! Once activated, in your account, you will list two devices PER owned device/cablecard combo. One listing is for the cablecard itself, and the other listing is simply a footprint for your owned device. So for every active CC device, you will see two listings. Do not allow this to cause concern. Ill gladly help anyone with issues. Sarge
