Starting about Friday night, the FREE TO ME setting on my GUIDE/remote is all screwed up. I turned on the TV to channel surf as I normally do b4 nodding off to sleep and was shocked to see that dozens of channels were no longer there. For instance, everything from about 26 to 85 are gone, as well as most from 91 to 240. I hardly watch much TV anyway, other than Comcast Sportsnet or whatever they call it post-merger (38) for stuff like the Flyers/Phillies, or occasionally things like ESPN, CNN, CNBC, CSPAN...and they disappeared!
Futzing around with things I found that I could STILL get to channels like that which I had watched recently that were still accessible through the LAST function, but then if I pressed the GUIDE button on my remote it would default back to CHANNEL 2 (WTF?) instead of the actual channel it was on (38, 37 for example).
After much headscratching I found if I changed my GUIDE "view" to be ALL channels then I could see those channels I lost and select them with the remote. Which is a PITA since I now if surfing I have to wade through hundreds of other channels which I have to PAY FOR if I accidentally select them (have to back out etc).
I intend on calling COMCAST tomorrow and wasting my time complaining but am curious if this has happened to anyone else recently. Researching this I found some threads that people complain about similar stuff that happens AFTER they have just changed their service but I have not changed anything. Although COMCAST has - they took away my "free" access to TCM (which was one of the few channels I even want) against my wishes. Coincidentally I DID call them and complained about that (total waste of time) and just last week I answered 2 surveys which I gave them all ZEROES for customer satisfaction regarding that. It is almost like now they have decided to punish me for daring to tell them how much they suck in their own surveys asking my opinion....
Rant over....
