I currently am still using a legacy DCX box. It has become rather unstable and has rebooted itself daily the past 3 days. Everything is working fine otherwise, so I don't think it's a signal issue. I've had iGuide since 2004 (one of the first DCT-6412's), and it used to be stable until they added all the interactive features, when it would start to crash and reboot every 4-5 weeks. Even when it was replaced with the DCX due to MPEG4, there was no difference.
So, I'm thinking of finally updating to X1. The physical install is no issue. I tried looking online, but there doesn't seem to be any obvious way. I'm not sure how well calling in would do, and if the stores are even open, although I'd rather keep the DCX for a short bit until I know the X1 is OK. I don't have a 4K TV, but would rather get the XG1v4 due to the speed and that it's a true DVR. I have my own modem, so I don't think I could use any of the IP-based ones, and would rather not rely on a single modem for everything anyways.
I have a grandfathered Preferred Digital plan. That means I am getting all the original Preferred channels (other than TCM) and even the full Epix, which started when they had the Starz/Encore fight. I'd rather not lose a bunch of channels if I end up being converted to the current Preferred coding.
