[Comcast Equip] Ancient STBs on New Service

This doesn't involve me/our service, but one of my family members ended up signing up for Comcast TV service again recently, and I couldn't help but notice the STB they had received. When they signed up almost a decade ago, they received a Motorola DCT2000. They then cancelled TV from their triple play to save money a couple years ago. Now they signed back up, and they received a, you guessed it, Motorola DCT2000. I honestly don't know how/why they're still somehow giving out Motorola DCT2000 to people on new service hookups, especially when some new channels are IP-channels. I didn't ask what plan they were put on, I'm guessing they somehow put them on a weird old Digital Starter plan or didn't properly bundle them to the new X1 bundles(which all include HD/X1 in our market), but still, a DCT2000 from 20 years ago isn't necessarily a good thing to be giving customers in 2020, at least they could be giving out the still old, but more updated iguide units. Has anyone else been given ancient equipment recently? Attached below is the equipment in question - [Att=1]
