HD Activation trouble

I recently returned to Comcast and did a self install of two HD boxes and a wireless modem on Friday. One HD box stopped working on Sunday (it wouldn't power on. This is a new house and there seem to be some electrical issues.) and I picked up a replacement today. This one's plugged into a surge protector. After speaking with two customer service reps, using the automated system twice, and changing the HDMI port, HDMI cable, and coax cable, still no signal. The last rep told me the problem must be in our house's wiring. I wasn't convinced so I brought our fully functioning box from another TV and swapped it out. Perfect signal. It seems to me that the box is the problem. Am I missing something here? Problem box is Model RNG110, Part Code B4043432900.
