I have a pretty old Sharp Aquos in my home office. It had been hooked up with an old digital box that died (coax connection). So I got a RNG110 for the TV (I figured if the box died - the TV might go next - and the next TV will be HD).
The box and and the TV have composite and component outputs/inputs. No HDMI input in the TV. I had some new unused composite cables from previous purchases - and don't have any component cables. I hooked up the TV using the composite cables - and everything looks and sounds ok. What I'm wondering is whether things would look and sound better with a component cable in place of the composite? I don't think I've ever used a component cable before for anything (otherwise I'd have one in the "box of old cables" in my closet). And I'm pretty sure I went straight from coax to HDMI on STB ---> TV hookups.
FWIW - I only use this TV to watch CNBC - cooking shows - and the occasional golf tournament while I'm doing work in my home office. So it probably wouldn't be worth $20 or more to buy a cable that offers only a small incremental improvement.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Robyn
