I'm thinking of switching to Comcast next month from Directv. I used to have Comcast maybe 8-10 years ago in Chicago, and it was really horrible at times. To do any switching of channels, they would have to come out and do it on the pole behind the house. Once they were there for another customer and ended up completely disconnecting my service by accident. There would be several blocks of channels out all the time with either an error message or so badly pixelated it was unwatchable. I'd call and someone would come out and do something on the pole, and a few of the blocks of channels would be fixed, but he would break different channels in the process. It was a maddening never-ending annoyance. I finally got them to give me a credit for all the channels never received, but I really don't want to deal with that again.
On the other hand though, the channels that did work usually always worked and didn't go out when a bird flying by spit on the dish.
If I switch to Comcast, does the same thing still happen? Or do they no longer have to keep coming out to do the channel additions or fixes from the pole? I'm in a close suburb of Chicago now, so I'm guessing service would be the same as there.
Thanks for any advice.
