If you cant change channels, or other function are not working right, reboot the STBs, there is a National Outage, and seemingly rebooting the STBs are getting them working right, ish.
Just a heads up.

[X1-X2] X1 the guide and channels don't roll around?
The guide does not roll around from 999 to 2 (or 1, whatever), or back the other way, like every other guide basically.
Even just changing channels, if I am on channel 999 and press channel up, it just sits there.

[Connection] Comcast is wiring 70's apartment complex in Houston
The complex used to have some horrible service called TVMAX/Wavevision, which apparently vanished after racking up several million dollars in FCC fines.
They are bringing new lines - they have been working on utility poles, as well as under the street. The other utilities have marked their lines everywhere, all up and down the street, and all around the property. This is gonna be a full job - brand new Comcast. I don't think they are using any TVMAX stuff - they marked between each building with "ATT" and "CenterPoint", so I think that's gonna be new as well.
The manager thinks that every apartment will get new coax as well. (I've looked in the wall - there's at least two old systems in there, one looks like a master antenna system from the 70s, and the other one looks like the TVMAX/Wavevision install).
The TVMAX plant looks awful (at least in the walls of my apartment), loose compression connectors with tons of braiding sticking out of the side. I am (ab)using some of it to distribute my DISH receiver to the bedrooms (two analog channels 21 and 23), and I had to replace all the connectors on the splitter and in all of the jacks before the picture was acceptable.
My question is, do you think each building will get fiber, with coax to the apartments? Or will we get something less exciting? (or more?) There are 200 apartments in 11 buildings, I guess it's about 6-7 acres.
Manager thinks they will be done in March or April.

[Price] Digital Add'l Outlet Svc Fee
On October 31st, I walked out of the Comcast/Xfinity Store with an XG2v2 (non DVR X1 box) and a Cable Card.
On that same day a bill was created.
You know what, I was writing a post for one reason. And now I'm looking at my bill and it might be even worse than I thought.
Actually, no. But you people f***ing suck at making legible bills.
"Digital Add'l Outlet Svc Fee" is bullshit. It was added only on my second bill. I walked out of the Comcast store with my non DVR X1 and a cable card. Why did my original bill not reflect this fee "Digital Add'l Outlet Svc Fee".
Oh, and this "Digital Add'l Outlet Svc Fee" is for a TiVo Series 3 model 652 THAT BOTH YOUR OWN AND TIVO DOCUMENTATION SAID WOULD BE FULLY 100% SUPPORTED BY MPEG-4, YET SCORES OF CUSTOMERS IN HOUSTON AND MINNEAPOLIS ARE SUFFERING FROM TOTAL LOSS OF HD CHANNELS ON THEIR MODEL 652 AND 658 TIVOS.
This fee should be REMOVED because COMCAST'S DOCUMENTATION SAID THIS MODEL SHOULD WORK. Remove the fee UNTIL IT ACTUALLY WORKS.

[Price] pittsburgh area price increases even though I am in PRICE LOCK
Well I got my November bill and low and behold prices are increasing. Specifically the dta fee is going from 3.99 to 5.99 in December. Also the regional sports fee is going from 3 to $5 and the broadcast tv fee is going from $5 to $7.
This means even though I have a 2 year price lock my bill will go up!!!
dta 3 x 5.99 = 17.97
rsp $5 5.00
btv $7 7.00
Total increase $29.97
Why lock in my pricing if it is going to increase $30 every year anyways????

[Cust Svc] How hard is it to cancel TV service these days?
Is it painless and do they just cancel and leave you with internet only if you ask firmly, or do they try to argue/cajole you to death, and "accidentally" lose the call if they can't convince you? Basically, the only way I'm going to stay with TV at this point is if they give me a contract where I'm paying less for everything I have but NO MORE-- I'm already paying full retail for Digital Starter and Blast Pro (150/12) and it's going up on the next bill to well over $180. I don't want VOIP telephony, I don't want home security, nothing more. Just want to stay with Blast Pro internet and get my TV over the internet one way or the other (Hulu/Netflix/Amazon Prime video etc).
BTW, a question: they don't have the audacity to charge an in-home visit downgrade fee when you cancel TV, do they (the only equipment I rent from Comcast is the dual-tuner CableCard in my TiVo--I can take that in myself)? Said fee is going up to 70 dollars (from 12--ain't monopolies grand?) on November 1st per the price change sheet in my last bill.

[X1-X2] Xfinity X1 now available to New Customers
I just heard a brand new radio commercial for the new Xfinity X1 cable box on local radio station 94.1 WIP Sports radio. But like others have said its currently only available for new residents and customers :( I am a long time Triple Play customer and I wonder if I called up and complained if I could get comcast to hook me up with a few X1 boxes? My guess not very likely :( But the good news is at least its here for new customers so maybe spring or summer 2013 it will be available for the rest of the Triple Play customers.
If anyone here in Philly gets it maybe you can give us a nice review with some photos and video :)

[Comcast Equip] Connecticut MPEG4
Today I got a letter from Comcast that I need to upgrade my equipment upgraded for MPEG-4 and to call them at 800-391-3000 so I call them and no one know what its about and I am told Connecticut is not going MPEG-4 to ignore the letter.
The letter was sent from the Berlin, CT office so it has me concerned that the person I spoke on the phone with does not know whats going on.
We have a number of old HD boxes which we have has for around 3 years now. I am sure those ones are not MPEG4 compatible.
I also have a HD Homerun Prime (Model HDRD3-CC) with a Cable Card. Not sure if that does MPEG 4 or not so contacted the HD Homerun support guys at Silicon Dust.
Anyone else get one of these? What should I do if it is true?

[Comcast Equip] RNG150 Replacement Box
When we moved into our new house in Central NJ 4 months ago, the local Comcast service center gave me a Pace RNG150 cable box. They said the voice remote was only available with DVR service. :(
I was chatting with ComcastCares on twitter and they said I can get a newer box with a voice remote. :)
Here are my questions:
- What box should I be asking them for?
- I am using a Harmony Remote, will I need to reprogram it?
Thanks
