I'm in Chester County, PA (Philadelphia market) and have noticed the audio on WCAU (810) and WPSG (811) seems to be muffled. It does not matter if I tune to the HD feed or SD feed. I first noticed the problem last night. Anyone else?

My DVR used to show a small picture of the channel currently being viewed in the corner when the guide was up. That seems to no longer be available. Am I missing something or has that function been taken from us?

[OnDemand] Can your DCT700 handle OnDemand playback ?

I have a small 24" LCD HDTV that has been connected to a DCT700. The DCT700 is pretty old (2003 if I go by the copyright on Time Warner's manual for their DCT700s https://www.timewarnercable.com/content/dam/residential/images/support/faqs/TV/digital-cable/motorola/motorola_dct700_userguide.pdf . It also has some pretty bad ghosting if using the coax output, although it's slightly improved when going with the red, white, yellow composite signal. As part of the recent rate hike, I'm evaluating the equipment I have on hand and it was pointed out that this DCT700 does OnDemand, but I can't get it to play back well at all. I think the signals are fine when playing regular shows, it just has a lot of pixelation and stutters when trying to do OnDemand, including things like SD versions of Big Brother and other shows highlighted on the front of the menu. Is this unique to me (perhaps my signals) or have other people with similar equipment noticed playback issues too ?

[Outage] Question

My Comcast cable has been out about more than a week. First we were told a cable had been cut, then that there was an area wide outage. Then the storm but my neighbors never lost cable. A tech showed up today , said he had to check the terminal which is located in my neighbors back yard. Two houses over and behind me. Nobody home and gate locked. Nothing he could do. He left. Rescheduled for next Saturday. What if they are not home. What if they are gone for a month?

[Connection] Ethernet only X1 install?

My parents (and maybe me) are moving to Florida in the near future. We currently have Optimum Online and DirecTV but with all the rain, we might have to go cable. As it stands, our option might end up being Xfinity. This will be a new construction. As it stands, we're gonna get TV. I'm a millennial and I still prefer to watch TV (don't try and convince me otherwise). However, I'm very tech savvy and don't want ANY MORE CoAX in the house. Of course, I'm gonna need it for the TV and the internet but I don't want to wire CoAX into every room. Rather, I want to wire fresh Cat6a Ethernet into every room. The only problem is the TV service and I don't want to deal with streaming services. Nothing beats the number pad remote. So obviously, I'll run CoAX from the outside into a centralized networking closet which can go into the cable modem and main cable box. However, can I take advantage of Ethernet and use my LAN to wire up the extra boxes or am I forced to run CoAX to every other part of the room? I realize I can do TiVo now too but all that could get expensive and also, the X1 platform looks kinda cool.

[X1-X2] Xfinity X1 now available to New Customers

I just heard a brand new radio commercial for the new Xfinity X1 cable box on local radio station 94.1 WIP Sports radio. But like others have said its currently only available for new residents and customers :( I am a long time Triple Play customer and I wonder if I called up and complained if I could get comcast to hook me up with a few X1 boxes? My guess not very likely :( But the good news is at least its here for new customers so maybe spring or summer 2013 it will be available for the rest of the Triple Play customers. If anyone here in Philly gets it maybe you can give us a nice review with some photos and video :)

[X1-X2] New ARRIS XG1v4 DVR

&nbsp On the X1 TV Box Comparison page https://www.xfinity.com/support/cable-tv/x1-hub-vs-companion-box/ , a new "ARRIS XG4 XG1v4" X1 gateway DVR box is now shown to be available in "select markets only." The Feature Comparison table at the bottom of that page indicates that it has 6 tuners, but similar to the non-DVR XG2, can only pause and rewind live TV up to 25 minutes, most likely by using an SD card also. There's also an article about it on the Light Reading site today, which reports that it is supposedly 4K/UHD and HDR capable: Comcast Appears to Soft Launch First 4K DVR By Mari Silbey, Light Reading - May 19, 2017 http://www.lightreading.com/video/4k-8k-video/comcast-appears-to-soft-launch-first-4k-dvr/d/d-id/732973quote:Well look what the Internet turned up. On a Comcast support page, the cable operator is now referencing an Arris XG4 DVR set-top, available in select markets only. The specs on the page don't advertise it, but multiple sources have told Light Reading that the product is a set-top that supports 4K Ultra HD and High Dynamic Range (HDR) video. And it may be Comcast's first 4K box on the market. The XG4 DVR ... is reportedly going live now or in the near future in limited markets, which would explain why the product is showing up on an X1 support page. It's noteworthy, however, that Comcast doesn't reference 4K support among the specifications. Comcast has already been dinged for falling behind on its 4K roadmap, and the company may be wary of promoting a product launch until the DVR has gained some traction in the field. Comcast has not yet responded to a request for comment about the DVR. Among the specs that Comcast does list for the XG4 are six TV tuners, a 25-minute buffer for pausing and rewinding live TV, compatibility with the X1 voice remote, and support for AnyRoom DVR and X1 TV apps. ...&nbsp EDIT: that X1 TV Box Comparison page has now been updated to label this as the "XG1v4" there: https://www.dslreports.com/forum/r31468910- I have therefore updated the subject line of this thread accordingly.

Why the extreme amount of confusion and errors? Please Help!

After 43 years living in an area with no cable of any kind and only having the CenturyLink and DirecTV options, I finally moved this week to a House in a Comcast area. But the high level of confusion and extreme amounts of incompetency is through the roof and I do not understand why. Story: I called last week on Thursday and asked to have an installer on the 15th show up and install X1 Double Play (140+ channels Starter Package) because I would be out of town most of this week to help with Harvey victims. I asked for the 24 month locked in package because he said it would save me money, and one DVR and one mini box with scheduling, rewind, pause etc, plus 55 Mbps internet (with my own modem). He quickly said I had to have two DVR's with the 2nd one costing $9.95 because the small boxes do not have record scheduling, rewind etc. What? What kind of mini boxes do not do that basic function, especially when it says on Comcasts website that they do? Anyway, as I was already gone I called again to get things straight and to tell them I was coming home early and to please install it on the 4th, they quickly said we already have an appointment for you on the 5th????? How did I suddenly have an appointment on the 5th when I told them the 15th days earlier????? So they changed it for the 4th, as I requested, and I then drove the 1000 miles back home to be there on the 4th, got in late Sunday night and went to the new home on the 4th about 11am. Around 1:30pm I called just to make sure they were coming and they said they had no appointment and were NOT scheduled for the 4th, but instead had no schedule for me at all??? (Insert comical angry facial expression here) OK, here is where I suddenly turned red with anger, because I just drove 1000 miles from southern Louisiana to Albuquerque JUST FOR COMCAST"S APPOINTMENT on the 4th. Then they told me they couldn't show up until the 7th, (today) at the same time 1-3pm. So even though this gets me in trouble with my employer (I'm a truck driver) I agreed of course. I now lost 1000 miles of my time and now maybe 600-1000 in wages all because Comcast can't get or keep things straight? LOL WHAT??? So, today everything seemed to go OK, he showed up in decent time (2pm) and two guys installed the service but had no clue at all what they were supposed to install. No clue??? However, I told them X1 Double Play Starter 140+ channels with TWO DVR's, PLUS the 55 Mbps Internet with my own modem. He could NOT get it installed because the system would NOT let him use my Modem because I had Triple Play Service with unlimited phone service. WHAT???? How did it suddenly become Triple Play? He had to call in and ask for changes, and when he did they removed the second room entirely (Boy did this ever upset the installer AND me again). So not only does Comcast upset customers with incompetency, they also upset their installers with incompetency???? I do not understand how a large company like Comcast can be this unbelievably and extremely disorganized. I am trying hard to be understanding and kind, but they do not make it very easy. Anyway after many hours of trying to get things working he finally got TWO X1 DVR's installed (so he said), but when they left the bedroom only has a small mini box, not the full sized X1 DVR I was just minutes, and last week told I would have, and HAD TO HAVE. WHAT???? I told them I MUST have recording abilities in BOTH rooms. Why did this yet change suddenly again? OK, now I get home (to the other home I am moving out of) to my computer to look online and make an account with Comcast so I can check to see what the online services says I signed up for, and lo and behold it says I have, wait for it...... Limited Basic Service with 10+ channels at half the cost I was just quoted??? (about time to go into tears) So I called in and she tells me over the phone that I have the 172 channel Limited Basic package, not the Double Play X1 Starter I just signed up for and the installer said I had. WHAT???? this is where I now fully realize I am in a nightmare??? I just have no words for this "initial" experience. In one single week Comcast has managed to have more issues than ALL 12 YEARS of my service at both DirecTV and CenturyLink combined. Comcast has given me more stress in this week than I have experienced in my entire life of getting services from companies. So, one question I have is, is this typical service of Comcast? How do I find out what package I have exactly if the person on the phone and my account say two entirely different things? Why is it when I get off the phone with them EVERYTHING about the deal changes???? Please could someone help me understand and please calm me down? Please? This is the single worst experience EVER!!! I have not even turned on the TV yet because I am so flustered with confusion and have my head buried in my desk in utter disbelief. I have 30 days to cancel for any reason (I have plenty already), so I may want to do that, but I need advice from others first. Oh and my DirecTV is still active until December, so I can easily get them to transfer service if I need to. Thanks Please help me understand and Best Regards.

Comcast customers in a number of Florida counties who evacuate during Hurricane Irma will be able to use Xfinity Wi-Fi hotspots to remotely access live streams of local NBC TV broadcasts from Miami, Palm Beach and the Treasure Coast: Comcast Will Carry Live Stream of Local NBC Broadcasts in Miami, Palm Beach and the Treasure Coast to Local Customers Who Evacuate During Hurricane Irma Comcast press release, Business Wire - September 8, 2017 http://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20170908005690/en/Comcast-Carry-Live-Stream-Local-NBC-Broadcastsquote:In an unprecedented move, Comcast today announced that customers in Monroe County, Miami-Dade County, Broward County, Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast who evacuate during Hurricane Irma will be able to remotely access live stream broadcasts from WTVJ-TV/ NBC-6 in Miami and WPTV-TV/ Newschannel 5 in Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast. Through agreements with both stations, Comcast is now carrying the broadcasts through its Xfinity Stream app https://www.xfinity.com/get-stream NBC-6 and NBC Newschannel 5 normally carry live streams online, but viewing is typically restricted to their respective local markets. By making the broadcasts available on the Xfinity Stream app, Comcast and the stations are giving local customers and viewers a way to get important news and information about the storm and their communities in real-time, even if they had to evacuate. It marks the first time a cable company has devised a way to team up with local broadcasters and offer relocated customers out-of-market access to local broadcasts. Comcast developed the plan as it was looking for a way to leverage its WiFi network, which is the largest in the nation, and its cloud-based network infrastructure to help impacted customers. This unique combination of assets makes it possible for Comcast to provide seamless viewing options in and out of market, either through its facilities-based network or wirelessly. ...Also on MCN: http://www.multichannel.com/news/content/comcast-carry-live-local-nbc-streams-hurricane-irma-evacuees/415131

[HD] Limited Basic customers - Are u getting HD channels on HD-DTA ?

$

I've been having lots of fun trying to get this XiD-P DTA I recently received working with HD channels and wanted a sanity-check here. I was on the Internet Plus double play with SD-only limited basic, HBO, 2 devices - SD-box and CableCard, and internet, then dropped to just limited basic TV. Everything I've read about the HD locals with limited basic suggest they don't charge the HD tech fee for limited basic (we don't even get 1 dozen HD channels) but it has, traditionally, been a low-end DTA equipment limitation making me use SD on this secondary tv. This new XiD-P box is slick and has HDMI, but I feel like it's still gimped with an SD-only channel lineup. I've got the DTA hooked up with the HDMI cable and see locals in SD, but the HD versions won't tune in on the DTA but they're just fine on my computer with a cablecard. I've gone through the online "missing channels" dialog that resets the DTA, had an online chat session as well as the 1800 number, and left posts on comcast's forums that have gone unanswered. The 1800 csr even went so far as to schedule a technician visit 1 month out after my cell phone disconnected. As best I can tell, there must be some channel lineup code that enables HD that my DTA is missing (and maybe CableCard has a different lineup code?). This is semi-supported by how a full, pull the power plug, reboot of the DTA shows the HD channels like 104 in the channel guide until it starts getting authenticated/downloading program info and then it removes 104, etc from the guide. Typing in 104 directly just jumps to 118 and then gives a "not authorized for this channel" pop up. It's already frustrating dealing with customer support, but when you come up without a solution and can't explicitly tell them what needs fixed... argh. So, am I mistaken ? Should I be getting HD channels with Limited Basic on this DTA ? Does anyone have any insight on which CSRs can fix this channel issue and how to lead them into the right settings/channel codes ? I found a 2 year old reddit post describing a code bahdstbprim for HD on limited basic but I'm not certain that's right or who can enter that code.

Shares of $CMCSA tumble the most in six years after the management said it will lose some 150,000 video subscribers during its third quarter this year. Just like Comcast, Walt Disney too struggles under intense competition. And the recent hurricane is another contributing factor to this disappointing forecast. Do you think the company can navigate through these challenges or it will continue to be a prolonged trend? can the company reverse this decline? http://alph.st/p25acbd8

I currently subscribe to Fios and use Tivo with two minis. I was over a friends house and liked the Comcast X1 platform. Unfortunately, he only has the one X1 DVR box. I'm considering switching to Comcast and the X1 platform. In comparison to the Tivo minis, how big are the other X! boxes that are non-DVR? I currently have one of the Tivo minis handing on the wall by a nail is that possible with the X1 non-DVR?

So here I am watching tv through my X1 box. Time to watch the rest of a movie I recorded last night as I went to bed. Bring up the movie and as I hit play it begins an a commercial. So I hit fast forward twice as usual to speed past the commercial. Oddly when I hit the FF button I didn't get the screen notice of FF being recognized with the progress bar along the bottom of the screen. There was a slight delay and it began to FF. HOWEVER now the buttons on the quit functioning and I can't stop the FF. Nothing works. I try the All Power button. TV turns off but box keeps on ticking in FF. So watch the show FF all the way to the end where the screen is frozen now. Checked other tvs and their seem to be working. After some time it eventually went back to live tv and seems to be working normal again. SMH

Can someone either provide, or tell me how to get, a current & complete channel lineup for my area? If I go through xfinity's site, while signed in, it gives me the nice printable guide, with logos, but it is not complete. At least 15 channels are missing. I have searched this forum, and the web, without success for a lineup-and how to get one. Inglis, FL/34449, but it's the lineup out of Dunnellon Florida Comcast/Xfinity area. TIA.
