[Content] Comcast is dropping ESPN Classic

This is supposed to be happening in all other Comcast markets. Also, the "online page for customers to view upcoming network contract expirations" that the author talks about is not "new." ESPN Classic is history on Xfinity in Connecticut By Alexander Soule, CT Post - October 16, 2017 http://www.ctpost.com/business/article/ESPN-Classic-is-history-on-Xfinity-in-Connecticut-12280954.phpquote:Comcast is dropping ESPN Classic from its Xfinity cable TV service in Connecticut, also creating a new online page for customers to view upcoming network contract expirations. The new Comcast website at http://my.xfinity.com/contractrenewals lists contract expirations through December, to include that month the Time Warner networks CNN and TNT. Comcast stated it “fully expects” to reach renewals of those deals. Altice USA likewise dropped ESPN Classic this month from its Optimum cable service in Connecticut as part of a new carriage agreement with Walt Disney, which controls Bristol-based ESPN with Hearst a minority shareholder.EDIT: Edited to say that this is not just in Connecticut.

[X1-X2] Xfinity X1 now available to New Customers

I just heard a brand new radio commercial for the new Xfinity X1 cable box on local radio station 94.1 WIP Sports radio. But like others have said its currently only available for new residents and customers :( I am a long time Triple Play customer and I wonder if I called up and complained if I could get comcast to hook me up with a few X1 boxes? My guess not very likely :( But the good news is at least its here for new customers so maybe spring or summer 2013 it will be available for the rest of the Triple Play customers. If anyone here in Philly gets it maybe you can give us a nice review with some photos and video :)

[Comcast Equip] XR2 Replacement Remote

Does anyone know if Comcast still hands out XR2 remotes? The one for our HD DTA has been acting up. Fortunately I have another but that one feels like it might go out soon as well. Also somewhat tempted to just get a full featured X1 box to replace the HD DTA. We already pay something like $6 for it so at this point we might as well just get another X1 box.

The result is a compact input device for which the design and placement of each key has been well thought out. Keys that are only rarely used have been completely eliminated or integrated into other function buttons. The keys are tactically differentiated and can be identified by touch. They also light up when the remote is taken into the user’s hand.Above is a side-by-side comparison with the current XR11 voice remote.

I know there has been other threads about this, but they seemed to be more for a specific location instead of in general. Feel free to use this thread for reporting your area or state and discussion. So I received a letter from Comcast today informing me that the Freedom Region in New Jersey should see a change in June.

[Comcast Equip] X1 DVR boxes.

The DVR on my X1 is the PA PX013ANM. Does Comcast have a DVR that is either SSD or cloud storage. Over the last couple months the box is starting to make a scraping like noise which I can only assume is the hard drive, it is getting very annoying and louder from the first time I noticed it. Was going to take it to the Xfinity store and replace it, but don't want to do that if they would be giving the same model box. Thanks

The program guide says that tonight, on the Olympics Channel, the Slime Derby LPGA golf tournament will be aired. However, the actual name is the Sime Darby tournament, named after a large corporation in Malaysia. See: http://www.simedarby.com/ How does a dumb mistake like that get through?

[X1-X2] Why is X1 HD Quality so Poor?

$

I just bought a new 65" Samsung 4K TV, and the signal quality from my X1 box on HD channels is disappointing. My old 55" Vizio with 1080p capabilities shows a better picture, particularly in dark scenes with little contrast difference. The 1080p set shows these areas as grainy, while the 4K set show them with noticeable tiling. I have run the same episodes of TV show through the X1 box and then the Samsung Smart Apps native Netflix or Amazon app. The Netflix and Amazon apps show no tiling in the same scenes that have tiling when played through the X1 box. I also have no problems on the 4K TV playing blu ray DVDs. It seems that the better the TV resolution, the worse the X1 signal looks. Why are we paying a HD fee to Comcast when the signal is not that good? Will the new beta Comcast streaming TV have better signal quality? Streaming Netflix 4K videos yields stunningly good picture quality on my new Samsung TV. The X1 picture quality is noticeably poorer, even allowing for the fact it is supposed to be only 1080p (at least this is what I have set on my X1 box; 1080p, 60 fps).

Xfinity TV Partner App on LG 4K Ultra HD Smart TVs

Comcast and LG Electronics USA today announced Xfinity TV customers will be able to access their cable service via the Xfinity TV Partner app on 2017 and 2018 LG webOS Smart TVs beginning in 2018. Featuring the Emmy Award-winning X1 guide, the app will allow Xfinity TV customers to watch live and on demand programming, including local broadcast and Public, Educational and Governmental channels, as well as their cloud DVR recordings, delivered over Comcast’s secure private managed network on LG 4K Ultra HD Smart TVs led by the critically acclaimed LG OLED and LG SUPER UHD TVs. "With our award-winning webOS user experience, Comcast customers will be able to take advantage of an easy-to-use interface and fast application performance on 2017 and 2018 webOS-enabled TVs," said Matt Durgin, Head of Content Innovation for LG Electronics USA. "Working with Comcast will bring these experiences to our customers so they can seamlessly enjoy their favorite content on our award-winning 4K Ultra HD TV line-up without the need for a set-top box." Comcast launched the Xfinity TV Partner Program last year to expand the range of retail devices Xfinity TV customers can use to access the programming that is included with their subscription. Leveraging open standard HTML5 technology, the Xfinity TV Partner Program provides a common framework that smart TV, TV-connected and IP-enabled retail device manufacturers can use to develop an Xfinity TV Partner app for their device so that Xfinity TV customers can access their cable service in their homes without the need to lease a set-top box from Comcast. http://corporate.comcast.com/news-information/news-feed/comcast-and-lg-partner-to-provide-xfinity-customers-access-to-their-xfinity-tv-subscription-on-lg-tvs

[Connection] What frequency does xfinity transmit digital tv at?

$

hola. Despite using dsl for internet, we still have Comcast for television. There is too many different tv shows being watched at any one time for cord-cutting to be practical. The problem, our signal strength is often "poor". Too many times when it goes below the threshold of what our STBs and DTAs can receive. I was thinking of adding a powered cable tv amplifier into the circuit. But the one I have onhand was technically from the era of analog cable tv. It only goes up to 62 mhz. Would the digital signals be within that range? If so, can an analog amplifier boost digital signals if the frequencies match? Thank you

[X1-X2] New ARRIS XG1v4 DVR

$

&nbsp On the X1 TV Box Comparison page https://www.xfinity.com/support/cable-tv/x1-hub-vs-companion-box/ , a new "ARRIS XG4 XG1v4" X1 gateway DVR box is now shown to be available in "select markets only." The Feature Comparison table at the bottom of that page indicates that it has 6 tuners, but similar to the non-DVR XG2, can only pause and rewind live TV up to 25 minutes, most likely by using an SD card also. There's also an article about it on the Light Reading site today, which reports that it is supposedly 4K/UHD and HDR capable: Comcast Appears to Soft Launch First 4K DVR By Mari Silbey, Light Reading - May 19, 2017 http://www.lightreading.com/video/4k-8k-video/comcast-appears-to-soft-launch-first-4k-dvr/d/d-id/732973quote:Well look what the Internet turned up. On a Comcast support page, the cable operator is now referencing an Arris XG4 DVR set-top, available in select markets only. The specs on the page don't advertise it, but multiple sources have told Light Reading that the product is a set-top that supports 4K Ultra HD and High Dynamic Range (HDR) video. And it may be Comcast's first 4K box on the market. The XG4 DVR ... is reportedly going live now or in the near future in limited markets, which would explain why the product is showing up on an X1 support page. It's noteworthy, however, that Comcast doesn't reference 4K support among the specifications. Comcast has already been dinged for falling behind on its 4K roadmap, and the company may be wary of promoting a product launch until the DVR has gained some traction in the field. Comcast has not yet responded to a request for comment about the DVR. Among the specs that Comcast does list for the XG4 are six TV tuners, a 25-minute buffer for pausing and rewinding live TV, compatibility with the X1 voice remote, and support for AnyRoom DVR and X1 TV apps. ...&nbsp EDIT: that X1 TV Box Comparison page has now been updated to label this as the "XG1v4" there: https://www.dslreports.com/forum/r31468910- I have therefore updated the subject line of this thread accordingly.
