The DVR on my X1 is the PA PX013ANM. Does Comcast have a DVR that is either SSD or cloud storage.
Over the last couple months the box is starting to make a scraping like noise which I can only assume is the hard drive, it is getting very annoying and louder from the first time I noticed it.
Was going to take it to the Xfinity store and replace it, but don't want to do that if they would be giving the same model box.
Thanks

[X1-X2] Changing volume on the X1 4K DVR?
I paired my Apple Airpods to the new X1 4K DVR, using the Bluetooth option in the Comcast Labs section of the menu and it works great. However, since the Airpods do not have volume up/down buttons, I'm pretty much stuck at a fairly loud volume level.
Is there a way to adjust the volume level on the STB itelf? The voice remote only controls the TV volume.

investigating changing to all Xfinity double play
Currently I am having Xfinity Internet plus basic TV ( really only for the internet service.) and DirecTV Chioce for TV viewing . I am thinking of dropping DirectV and go with Xfinity double play 100mb internet with digital starter TV (includes HD) to lower overall cost. I only need a main DVR box and a slave unit for the bedroom. Can you recommend the type of boxes I will need and the incremental costs ? Tks

[HD] No full HD content on Comcast
Nothing in my channel lineup except local channels I get OTA for free are in Full HD. Everything else is 720p @ half resolution of Free OTA content broadcast at 1080i.
Why am I getting 2x better quality content OTA for free than I do with Comcast? What gives?

[Cust Svc] Wanted the sports package
This is more of a rant then seeking help...
I ordered the Sports Entertainment Package online Friday. Everything seemed to go well ordering it, but the channels never showed on my TVs.
So I check my acct. on Saturday, They had no problem adding it to my bill, but still no channels.
First call to support (overseas). She tried all she could do (about 20 mins) , Finally says she'll transfer me to tech support. Back on hold waiting and waiting... I finally give up after 25 mins, hang up.
About 2 hrs later I call again, this time I punched in to speak to tech support......... put on hold....listen to music for 45 mins, never even talked to anyone. hang up.
Third time I'm told all CSRs are busy, leave my phone # for call back, 25 mins later get call (overseas again). He states he is tech support and sends "3 different kinds of signals" and I should be good to go....... though it may take 20mins to work....hang up-wait.
The channels never show...
Forth call.. very nice lady... she says she'll get ahold of billing and talk to her supervisor .... I sigh and say OK...
Sunday... still no channels...no Red Zone......
Way to go Comcast....this shouldn't be so hard......I'll be calling again Monday.......

[X1-X2] New ARRIS XG1v4 DVR

On the X1 TV Box Comparison page https://www.xfinity.com/support/cable-tv/x1-hub-vs-companion-box/ , a new "ARRIS XG4 XG1v4" X1 gateway DVR box is now shown to be available in "select markets only."
The Feature Comparison table at the bottom of that page indicates that it has 6 tuners, but similar to the non-DVR XG2, can only pause and rewind live TV up to 25 minutes, most likely by using an SD card also.
There's also an article about it on the Light Reading site today, which reports that it is supposedly 4K/UHD and HDR capable:
Comcast Appears to Soft Launch First 4K DVR
By Mari Silbey, Light Reading - May 19, 2017
http://www.lightreading.com/video/4k-8k-video/comcast-appears-to-soft-launch-first-4k-dvr/d/d-id/732973quote:Well look what the Internet turned up. On a Comcast support page, the cable operator is now referencing an Arris XG4 DVR set-top, available in select markets only. The specs on the page don't advertise it, but multiple sources have told Light Reading that the product is a set-top that supports 4K Ultra HD and High Dynamic Range (HDR) video. And it may be Comcast's first 4K box on the market.
The XG4 DVR ... is reportedly going live now or in the near future in limited markets, which would explain why the product is showing up on an X1 support page. It's noteworthy, however, that Comcast doesn't reference 4K support among the specifications. Comcast has already been dinged for falling behind on its 4K roadmap, and the company may be wary of promoting a product launch until the DVR has gained some traction in the field.
Comcast has not yet responded to a request for comment about the DVR.
Among the specs that Comcast does list for the XG4 are six TV tuners, a 25-minute buffer for pausing and rewinding live TV, compatibility with the X1 voice remote, and support for AnyRoom DVR and X1 TV apps. ...
EDIT: that X1 TV Box Comparison page has now been updated to label this as the "XG1v4" there: https://www.dslreports.com/forum/r31468910-
I have therefore updated the subject line of this thread accordingly.

:
The MLB Network, which offers around-the-clock baseball coverage, including live games, will air game one of the first round playoff series between the Boston Red Sox and Houston Astros at 4 p.m. ET on Thursday.
Game two between the Cleveland Indians and the American League Wild Card game winner, either the New York Yankees or Minnesota Twins will start at 5 p.m. ET on Friday. (The Wild Card game will be played tonight.)
Both games, which are MLB Network exclusives, will be offered nationwide as well as in the teams’ local markets without blackout restrictions.
Pay TV providers usually include the MLB Network channel in sports tiers or other more expensive programming packages so the free preview will allow all customers of participating services to tune in.

[HD] Comcast to finally stream NBA League Pass games in HD
RE: https://www.dslreports.com/forum/r27659196-HD-Will-Comcast-Ever-Add-HD-for-MLB-NHL-NBA-Packages
said by uid://548382 :With the launch this week of 5 HD channels for NBA League Pass, Verizon FIOS TV now carries 5 HD's for MLB Extra Innings / NHL Center Ice, as well as the NBA package. That's 10 HD channels for those InDemand packages.
Meanwhile, Comcast in my area carries ZERO. Just another mystery question on why they are sitting on all of this bandwidth...
FYI:
Comcast finally joins modern times by transmitting NBA League Pass in high definition
Comcast subscribers had been watching NBA League Pass in standard definition for years. Why?
By Ken Fang, Awful Announcing - September 20, 2017
http://awfulannouncing.com/nba/comcast-finally-joins-modern-times-transmitting-nba-league-pass-high-definition.htmlquote:It’s hard to believe in this day and age that live sports can be aired in 20th century, old timey-wimey standard definition. But subscribers to Comcast know this, especially those who have shelled out the money for the NBA League Pass out-of-market package.
For years, Comcast, the largest cable provider in the United States, transmitted all but one League Pass channel in old-fashioned SD. But apparently that’s going to change for the 2017-2018 season, as Ben Dowsett of Basketball Insiders tweeted:
Fun offseason NBA note: Sources tell me that NBA League Pass customers on Comcast will have a full range of HD channels available this year.
That’s great, but one wonders what took so long for Comcast to finally join the ranks of the 21st century. If you pay a not insignificant amount of cash for an out-of-market sports package, you expect it to be in high definition. In fact, with 4K on the horizon, you’re expecting to see some games in Ultra HD.
One of the reasons why live sports has been seen as DVR-proof and a hedge against cord cutting is the fact that the viewing experience is better at home than being at the actual game. However, when you’re watching the NBA on your 50-inch HD screen in SD, it’s as if you’re seeing archival grainy 1970’s footage on YouTube, complete with projector scratches and jump cuts.
Comcast can argue that bandwidth is limited, but other pay TV providers like Cablevision, Charter, Cox, DirecTV, Dish, and others all seemed to have adjusted fine and gave their viewers NBA League Pass in HD. It’s frustrating for a customer to be able to watch every other channel in high definition, but not the NBA.
Well, the frustration for hoops fans appears to be over and Comcast is finally giving fans a true HD viewing experience. It’s about time.

[X1-X2] X1 Video Quality - Atlanta Market
I've read a lot about X1 video quality and a general consensus that video quality has gotten worse with recent changes in how Comcast is changing mpeg2 to mpeg4 (1080i to 720p). In the recent weeks, I've noticed a large degradation in my video quality. There is a lot of pixelation on most programs that my wife and I watch. On sports, the pixelation is very bad (never was great, but way worse). On non-sports, images are soft and just are not crisp anymore. Is this an issue with my signal strength or just part of "future" of video quality I'll have to come and expect from Comcast.
The issue is present on our DVR and mini boxes. DVR is connected to 1080p projector. Mini boxes are connected to a 4k TV and a 1080i TV. All suffer from the same issue it seems.

[OnDemand] Xfinity OnDemand HBO Content Aspect Ratio
I recently noticed that some HD on-demand content from Xfinity, such as Veep on HBO, is showing in a stretched aspect ratio (2:1 or 21:9), making the quality very poor and the actors all look fat. I doubt that this content is being supplied by HBO in this format, so why is Comcast screwing with it?
